Coronation street first aired on British television in December 1960, and for the past 58 years has been one of the nations most popular television shows. It’s the longest running soap opera on the planet, and recently, the topic of cryptocurrency made it into the story line.
One of the programs characters, Ryan Connor is featured counting his pocket change after spending all of his money on gambling. Ryan had returned from DJ’ing in Ibiza with a sizeable bank balance, only to fall victim to a gambling addiction.
He makes an off the cuff remark about a ’50 quid investment in WhipCoin’, a fictional cryptocurrency back in 2011.
He quickly realised his investment is potentially now worth a fortune. He says he bought 5 of them and believes they’re now worth £250,000. He gets very excited and begins planning what he will do with his freshly discovered fortune.
